Growing with Android
It was late 2008 and I had just been introduced to the world of Crackberry with the Blackberry Pearl on T-Mobile. I had barely spent any time with the phone when I started hearing about Google entering into the smartphone market. After seeing pictures of the T-Mobile G1 the first thought that came to mind was "now that's an ugly phone..." but for some reason I was drawn to it.
After some internal debate, I decided to get the G1 and luckily I found a local T-Mobile retailer that was willing to give me an early upgrade to purchase it. Once the phone was in my hands, I was immediately in love. Sure it wasn't the best looking phone, neither did it have the best looking UI, but I knew I was holding something special.
After the G1 I wanted to get Android devices with polished UIs, so I purchased the Samsung Vibrant and after that the HTC Sensation. They were great devices, and their UI was definitely better looking than stock Android but I missed the timely updates that came with the G1.
Fast forward to today with Android 4.0 (aka Ice Cream Sandwich) and the Galaxy Nexus, Android has received the aesthetic polish it needed. I love my Galaxy Nexus and I think it perfectly symbolizes the power and beauty of Android. It is definitely the best phone I have ever owned.
